BRADENTON - The police sex scandal in Bradenton has triggered a management review. Three officers have already resigned after prostitutes accused them of trading drugs and cash for sex.

Two women say they had sex with officers inside a police substation while they were on duty. Sarah Wysocki said she had sex with one officer in the bathroom, while 30-year-old Dawn Gibson said she had sex with a different officer at one of the desks.

Gibson said the scandal involved four officers (one was cleared due to a lack of evidence). She said she had sex in the police office, in alleys, and a patrol car. She said the officers used three different forms of payment; cash, crack cocaine, and food.

Authorities have said they found drugs in Al Gore III's car after the 24-year-old was pulled over on July 4 for going 100 mph in his Toyota Prius.

He pleaded guilty Monday to two felony counts of drug possession, two misdemeanor counts of drug possession without a prescription, and one misdemeanor count of marijuana possession, the district attorney's office said.

Magnitude 4.2 quake rattles East Bay

A magnitude 4.2 quake struck a couple miles northeast of the center of Oakland at 4:42 a.m. today, causing power outage for almost 5,000 customers in the East Bay.

The early morning quake jolted and damaged a switch that controlled the flow of power to homes, said Susan Simon, spokeswoman for Pacific Gas & Electric. The outages were scattered across Oakland.

By 8 a.m., PG&E workers were working to restore power to the remaining 300 of the 4,600 customers who were affected, Simon said.

One Berkeley resident said the quake woke her up and that she felt about 30 seconds of strong shaking. Her porch light on a pendant swung after the rumble subsided, but the quake caused no damage.

Virgin America today announced it would launch flights next month and began taking reservations, following months of hurdles in gaining the U.S. Department of Transportation's approval to get off the ground.

Virgin America on Aug. 8 plans to launch its flagship route between San Francisco and New York JFK, as well as service between SFO and Los Angeles International. Beginning Aug. 29, the carrier will launch LAX-JFK service, and on Sept. 26 will serve Washington Dulles from San Francisco. In October, the carrier will commence service between San Francisco and Las Vegas, as well as LAX and Dulles.

The carrier expects to serve as many as 10 cities within a year of operation and up to 30 cities within five years.

France family member dies in plane crash

Dr. Bruce Kennedy, husband of International Speedway Corporation president and NASCAR vice president Lesa France Kennedy, was killed in a plane crash Tuesday morning in Sanford, Fla.

The crash occurred at approximately 8:40 a.m., NASCAR said in a statement.

MOUNT LAUREL, N.J. -- Miss New Jersey says she won't give in to an anonymous threat that personal photographs of her will be made public if she refuses to relinquish her crown.

"It would certainly be easier for me to simply succumb to these unlawful and immoral threats, and quietly disappear," Amy Polumbo said Thursday at a news conference in Asbury Park.

Polumbo's lawyer, Anthony Caruso, said that starting last week, Polumbo, her family and officials in the Miss New Jersey Education Foundation received packages with pictures of her and the demand that she resign by Friday.

Caruso said the pictures show her with some friends and some may have been photos that she posted years ago on a private Internet site.

Did they reveal more skin than a pageant-sanctioned swimsuit? College students behaving badly, perhaps? Caruso would not say.

TMZ, E Online and several other outlets spotted both Paris Hilton and Lindsay Lohan, the on-again, off-again BFFs, partying it up on the Malibu waterfront. First off, Paris Hilton decided to throw and Independence Day fiesta at a beachfront Malibu property, which turned out to be quite the occasion. At the same time, Lindsay Lohan, who had gained permission to leaves the Promises rehab facility, headed to the Polaroid Beach House for the Fourth of July, right next door to Paris Hilton's party.

It was possible that there could have been some huge fireworks even before the bombs started bursting in air, but there was no such altercation. Paris Hilton decided to pop over to the porch of the Polaroid Beach House, just to make an appearance. She stopped for a few minutes to mingle with some party-goers, but Lindsay Lohan was not around at the time. Before LiLo and Paris could bump into each other, Hilton retreated back to her own party and all awkwardness was avoided.

Although she failed field sobriety tests, Jackson's breathalyzer test results revealed only a .077 reading, which is just barely below the state's .08 legal limit.

The 38-year-old former Playmate was pulled over on State Route 58 in Oberlin, Ohio.
