HOLLYWOOD - R&B star Ray J's ex-girlfriend Kim Kardashian has settled her legal dispute with Vivid Entertainment over the release of her sex tape with the singer.

Vivid Entertainment, which paid $1 million to an unidentified source for the video, will hand over nearly $5 million to Kardashian and stop distributing the tape by the end of next month.

Kardashian filed a lawsuit against Vivid Entertainment in February, claiming the firm's intention to distribute the video violated her "right to privacy."

Vivid Entertainment's co-chairman tells Web site TMZ.com, "We are pleased that Kim has dropped her legal action against us. We met with her several times and finally reached a financial arrangement that we both feel is fair."

American photographer Spencer Tunick said Sunday he was hoping to draw his largest crowd of nude people for a shoot next month in Mexico City's enormous Zocalo plaza.

Tunick, famous for photographing crowds of nude people around the world, said the May 6 shoot could be bigger than one he did in 2003 with 7,000 volunteer models in Barcelona, Spain.
"This could be my largest work ever," Tunick told a news conference. "We're really hoping that all eyes will be on Mexico City on May 6 because this could be ... bigger than Barcelona."

The historic Zocalo plaza measures about 21,000 square yards - the size of about five football fields - and can fit up to 85,000 people standing.

The Brooklyn, N.Y. artist said he had all the necessary permits and the surrounding streets would be closed to traffic for the morning shoot.

A man from the American State of Arkansas is demanding the city pay him US$20,000 (NZ$26,836) for the Ôpain and sufferingÕ of his sons after they discovered a book on lesbian sex in their local library.
"[They were] greatly disturbed" said Earl Adams his letter to the city. "[We had] many sleepless nights in our house."
Adams wants US$10,000 per child, the maximum allowed under the Arkansas obscenity law.
Adams also wants the city to fire library director Cindy Suter.
The boys, aged 14 and 16, came across the book while the 14-year-old was looking for material on military academies.
The book, ÔThe Whole Lesbian Sex BookÕ by Felice Newman was moved to an inaccessible area of the library after Adams first complained, and then removed altogether following a second complaint from the man.
In a letter to Mayor Bob McCaslin, Adams said the book is "patently offensive and lacks any artistic, literary or scientific value."
A city attorney said that Adams' demand for money is without merit.
The city library board in removing the book said it will look for another volume on lesbians. If something Ômore appropriateÕ is not found, ÔThe Whole Lesbian Sex BookÕ will be returned.

(McMinnville, Oregon) A man wearing nothing but women's high heels was the cause of a building lockdown by police in downtown McMinnville.

The unidentified man was spotted sitting on a bench on the basement floor of a nearly vacant medical building.

After a call to 911 dispatchers, two McMinnville police units responded and were assisted by deputies from the Yamhill County Sheriffs Office and the Oregon State Police. The building was locked down and surrounded, but alas, no naked man.

The man was described as 40 to 50 years old, bald or with short white hair, of thin to medium build.

He was last seen running down one of the building's hallways in the heels, police said.

Spider-man 3 DVDs hit streets of Beijing?In China, a bootleg DVD of Spider-man 3 has hit the streets with a $1 price tag, premiering 2 weeks before the movie even debuts in the US.
This latest report is sure to anger the MPAA and American movie distributors especially because the movie reportedly cost $500 million dollars to make.

Earlier this month, the US filed complaints against China with the WTO claiming the China was not doing enough to punish movie pirates and that their restrictions on media imports were violating trade rules. China criticized the move and the Vice Premier, Wu Yi, threatened that the complaints would "badly damage" cooperation, and emphasized that China was doing alot to enforce copyright protections.

"The United States Trade Representative, the USTR, has totally ignored the massive strides China has made," Wu told an intellectual property forum in Beijing.

Sony however, has so far claimed that the DVDs are a hoax and are really just copies of Spider-man 2. In a statement Sony reported that "Contrary to news reports about stolen copies of 'Spider-Man 3' being sold illegally on the streets in China, our investigation in China has revealed no case of the film being pirated to date...After an initial investigation of online sites worldwide, we have so far found no pirated copies of 'Spider-Man 3' on the Internet."

Sony also added that so far investigators in China have failed to find anything other than Spider-man 2 DVDs in Spider-man 3 boxes.

Vermont votes to impeach Bush

Vermont - Vermont senators voted on Friday to call for the impeachment of President George W Bush and vice-president Dick Cheney, saying their actions in Iraq and the US "raise serious questions of constitutionality".

The non-binding resolution was approved 16-9 without debate - all six Republicans in the chamber at the time and three Democrats voted against it.

The resolution was the latest, symbolic, effort in the state to impeach Bush.

In March, 40 towns in the state known for its liberal leaning voted in favour of similar, non-binding resolutions at their annual meetings.

State lawmakers in Wisconsin and Washington have pushed for similar resolutions.

The resolution says Bush and Cheney's actions in the US and abroad, including in Iraq, "raise serious questions of constitutionality, statutory legality, and abuse of the public trust".

"I think it's going to have a tremendous political effect, a tremendous political effect on public discourse about what to do about this president," said James Leas, a vocal advocate of withdrawing troops from Iraq and impeaching Bush and Cheney.

Vermont lawmakers earlier voted to demand an immediate troop withdrawal from Iraq in another non-binding resolution.

Democratic house speaker Gaye Symington has kept a similar resolution from reaching the floor in her chamber.

Bin Laden planned and supervised the attack that killed 23 people outside the base during Cheney's visit, said Mullah Dadullah, the Taliban's main military commander in southern Afghanistan who has had close associations with al-Qaida.

"You may remember the martyr operation inside the Bagram base, which targeted a senior U.S. official. ... That operation was the result of his wise planning. He (bin Laden) planned that operation and guided us through it. The operation was a success," Dadullah told Al-Jazeera.

He did not say how he knew that bin Laden planned the attack, and it was not immediately clear when the interview took place.

Jessica Lynch Sets Record Straight

On Tuesday, former Army Pvt. Jessica Lynch testified in Washington, D.C., about the real story of her capture and rescue while serving in Iraq in 2003.

She spoke before the House Government Reform Committee along with the family of fallen Army Ranger Pat Tillman.

Tillman, a former professional football player who joined the Army Rangers after Sept. 11, was killed by friendly fire in Afghanistan. At first the military said he was killed by enemy fire and even posthumously awarded him the Silver Star.

Lynch was badly injured when her convoy was ambushed in Iraq in 2003. She was later rescued by American troops from an Iraqi hospital, but the tale of her ambush was changed into a story of heroism on her part.

"It meant a lot, really, it did, especially to come out for the Tillman family," Lynch told The Early Show co-anchor Harry Smith. "They really need answers. And, you know, they have tons and tons of questions that are just unanswered. And they need that."

At the hearing, the chairman of the House panel, Henry Waxman, accused the government of inventing "sensational details and stories" about Tillman's death and Lynch rescue. After she arrived home, Lynch set the record straight in a book called "I Am a Soldier, Too."

"At first I didn't even realize É the stories that were being told," she said. "It was quite a while afterwards, and then I found out. It was a little disappointing. And I knew that I had to get the truth out there because, one, I wouldn't be able to live with myself ... knowing that these stories were portraying me to do something that I didn't."

Gay sex in Singapore

Singapore - Singapore's founding leader Lee Kuan Yew has questioned the city-state's ban on gay sex, saying the government should not be the moral police on the issue, reported a newspaper.

"If in fact it is true, and I have asked doctors this, that you are genetically born a homosexual - because that's the nature of the genetic random transmission of genes - you can't help it," Lee was quoted as saying in The Straits Times newspaper.

"So why should we criminalise it?"

The Simpsons ride Universal parks

"The Simpsons" are coming to Universal Studios' theme parks in Hollywood and Orlando next spring.

The long-running series, which hits the big screen on July 27, is morphing into a ride that will incorporate Homer, Marge, Bart, Lisa and Maggie Simpson along with other characters.

"The ride is designed to duplicate the 'Simpsons' home-viewing experience, only at high speed and with lots of screaming," creator Matt Groening said in a statement.

The series, in its 18th season, will air its 400th episode on May 20.

Two security researchers at Canada's CanSecWest conference won big for being the first to hack into a Macintosh computer during a contest at the event. Initial interest in the contest was relatively lackluster, but then Tipping Point, a security vendor, upped the ante with a $10,000 bonus to the first person who could successfully hack one of the Macs using a previously unknown bug.

Shane Macauley, a software engineer, and Dino Dai Zovi, a security researcher, undertook the challenge as part of the "PWN to Own" Hack-a-Mac contest hosted by conference organizers.

The two were awarded a MacBook Pro computer and a US$10,000 prize.

Former New Jersey Gov. Jim McGreevey's wife, Matos McGreevey, apparently knew that her husband was gay well before he made it public in a press conference in August 2004, according to a report published today in the New York Post.

Until now both McGreeveys have maintained that Matos found out about her husband's sexual orientation the same day he announced it to the press in a press conference. But according to several anonymous sources in the New York Post, Matos was aware of the fact that her husband was gay before his public announcement.

McGreevey left office in November 2004 after he admitted to having an affair with a male employee. Matos filed for divorce in February 2005, and a fight for custody and visitation rights for their 5-year-old daughter Jacqueline ensued.

An attorney, Lefebvre had previously negotiated Playboy appearance deals for clients including Pamela Anderson and Deborah Gibson, Bragman said.

Lefebvre, 37, is a cancer survivor who wanted to use the magazine opportunity to send a message of support to others with the disease, he said. She's married to prominent Los Angeles chef Ludovic Lefebvre.

The live season finale of NBC's "The Apprentice" is set to air Sunday at 10 p.m. EDT. Lefebvre was "fired" from Trump's show April 8.

The green minded singer Crow has said a ban on using too much toilet paper should be considered to help the environment, according to the BBC.
In an unheard of celebrity tutorial on mindful Earth friendly tips, Crow suggests using "only one square per restroom visit, except, of course, on those pesky occasions where two to three could be required".

The Dutch Cannabis Smoke here to stay

Could a smoking ban spell the end of Amsterdam's world famous coffee shops, where smoking cannabis is one of the main attractions?

No chance, says local conservative politician and coffee shop owner Michael Veling.

The Dutch may well follow other European countries in banning tobacco smoking in restaurants, cafes and bars, but Veling says it should still be possible to smoke dope.

"It is ridiculous to think that a smoking ban would be the end of coffee shops," the 50-year-old Veling says.

He says the clientele who have been coming to coffee shops to buy and inhale cannabis are flexible enough to find a way around any ban on smoking the tobacco products they routinely mix with marijuana resin or leaf in rolled paper "joints."

"You can bring parsley or old socks if you want, cut them here and smoke them, nobody will say anything," Veling said.

"Plus there are plants that have a every similar structure to tobacco and can maybe substitute for it."

But thanks largely to Washington's eagerness to go into Iraq rather than concentrate on hunting down al Qaeda's leaders, the organization now has a solid base of operations in the badlands of Pakistan and an effective franchise in western Iraq. Its reach has spread throughout the Muslim world, where it has developed a large cadre of operatives, and in Europe, where it can claim the support of some disenfranchised Muslim locals and members of the Arab and Asian diasporas. Osama bin Laden has mounted a successful propaganda campaign to make himself and his movement the primary symbols of Islamic resistance worldwide. His ideas now attract more followers than ever.
Decisively defeating al Qaeda will be more difficult now than it would have been a few years ago. But it can still be done, if Washington and its partners implement a comprehensive strategy over several years, one focused on both attacking al Qaeda's leaders and ideas and altering the local conditions that allow them to thrive. Otherwise, it will only be a matter of time before al Qaeda strikes the U.S. homeland again.

The CIA has captured a senior al Qaeda commander who served as a liaison between al Qaeda leaders in Pakistan and the terrorist group's franchise in Iraq. U .S. military and intelligence officials announced Friday that Abd al-Hadi al-Iraqi, a native of Mosul in northern Iraq, was captured in late 2006 as he tried to re-enter the country.

This week, after more than four months of interrogations, the CIA transferred him to the U.S. military prison at Guantanamo Bay. Al-Iraqi joined 14 other designated high-value detainees, including Khalid Sheik Mohammed, the mastermind of the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks on the United States.

Officials would not disclose what, if anything, al-Iraqi told CIA interrogators about the whereabouts of al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden, who is believed to be in Pakistan near the Afghanistan border. Officials would not identify the country in which al-Iraqi was nabbed.

A U.S. intelligence official, who briefed reporters on condition of anonymity, said al-Iraqi provided "significant amounts of information" on al Qaeda's current structure. The official said al-Iraqi was advocating attacks on Iranian targets as well as more bombings in Iraq.

Both also are charged with possession of a firearm during the commission of a violent crime.Their bail was set at 2-point-2 (M) million dollars each and they remained in jail last night.Drayton identified herself as a Playboy employee during her hearing.

According to police reports, housekeeping staff started cleaning Drayton's room thinking she had checked out. They discovered a black gym bag left on top of a hotel safe and found a brick-shaped package wrapped in duct tape inside the safe. According to police reports, the staff called officers after unwrapping the package and finding a powdery white substance.

Police watched the room and when Story left the room with a black bag, officers stopped him and found the brick that had been in the safe.Police say when they searched the gold Cadillac Escalade Drayton was driving, they found two handguns. Police say they seized more than 11-hundred grams of cocaine.
